Lately, I’ve developed a strong interest in anti-design. Ever since the release of the Brat album cover, I felt inspired to experiment in that space. Over three weeks, I created a 37-second animation aiming to capture the raw, chaotic nature of anti-design as it resurfaces in pop culture, juxtaposed with a thoughtful quote from post-impressionist painter Georges Seurat. Through this project, I realized anti-design is more complex than it appears — it requires an understanding of the rules you’re intentionally breaking. I also reaffirmed the importance of pre-production; when you lay a solid foundation, everything built on top becomes more intentional, cohesive, and effective as the project evolves.

“Art is harmony. Harmony is the analogy of contrary and of similar elements of tone, of color and of line, conditioned by the dominate key, and under the influence of a particular light, in gay, calm, or sad combinations.”
— Georges Seurat
